This is one of my favourite places on earth. I first saw Stainforth Bridge as a 14 year old camping with friends. I've swum in the river, nearly drowned in it, sat and watched the returning salmon leap through waterfalls, and I have even walked the entire length of it from sea to source. The reflections of fading winter light on this day were just too good not to paint.
