ONLINE COURSES HELP
If you have a question relating to Paul's online courses, you might find the answer here, otherwise contact us and we will be happy to help.
How do I download course sheets?
In the module section of the course, locate the course sheet and use the download function.
How do I send you a photo of my painting for feedback?
Feedback is only available via a premium course. Full instructions for submitting via email are located in the program schedule.
How do I get onto the group chat?
If you signed up for the premium program you will be automatically entered into the group chat. You can access the group via the online course interface or through your account profile. Please do not use different email addresses as this may cause issues with accessing your program and group access.
Can I do the next session as soon as I have finished the first one?
In all courses you can tackle the material at your own pace, however in premium courses it is best to follow the schedule to allow for parallel learning with your fellow participants and to pace out the subjects. Following the schedule also means you will be synchronised with feedback documents for each module.
Will I still be in the group chat after the course has finished?
The group will continue along with course material access for 12 months from the course start date, after which it will cease and all data relating to chats will be deleted.
Will I be able to see other students’ feedback?
Yes, not only do you learn from your own feedback but from others too.
What if I don’t want people to see my feedback?
If you don’t wish for others to see your work you can request to receive your personal feedback separately.
How will I know you have got my photo of my painting for feedback?
You will receive a receipt by return email. If it doesn’t arrive, please check your spam folder.
Are there deadlines for feedback?
Yes, each module gives you 10 days to complete the work and submit a painting for feedback. Deadline dates are shown in the modules, plus there's a handy diary dates section, which give you all the important dates throughout the course.
What if I miss an appraisal deadline?
If you miss a deadline, you will receive your feedback shortly after submitting it.
Do I need all the paint colours on the course list?
Not always. The courses are designed to keep colours to a minimum, but there are usually alternatives. If you’re not sure, just get in touch through the help button in the main menu.
What is the best paper to use?
Papers for courses will be listed in the module descriptions. Generally Saunders Waterford for watercolour and Winsor Newton Acrylic paper for acrylics, but do ask if you're not sure.
Should I stretch my paper first?
Stretched paper for watercolour is a personal choice. You could use slightly heavier paper or involve less water to avoid thinner unstretched papers from cockling. Generally, watercolour paper is best unstretched. Acrylic papers do not need stretching.
How do I get a certificate at the end of the course?
Certificates of completion are issued in Premium courses. Your certificate will be available when you have completed all the course steps. Do make sure you click the complete step button through the modules. If you don't receive your certificate, run back through the modules to see if any completed sections have not been marked as such.
What is the difference between a video tutorial and an online course?
Online courses are set courses to follow and complete on your own, in your own time or they may be completed in a time frame as part of a group. Courses generally have a limited access period. Video tutorials are standalone single tutorial sessions, usually with lifetime access.
