About the Event

Many painters are aware of transparent and opaque colours, but many avoid using opaques through fear of losing clarity in the painting. In this workshop we will study the use of tones, how and when to use opaque colours wisely, and where to use transparency for amazing effects. The course will include some exercise work to help you gain confidence in using your opaques as well as a full demonstration painting of putting opacity into context.

What to bring

Reference material to work from (usually a few photographs), watercolour paints (tubes are best for this) including Naples yellow, cerulean blue (or Sennelier royal blue) and titanium white, watercolour paper, brushes, waterpot, palette, kitchen roll, masking tape, Water spray, 6B pencil, putty rubber. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available throughout the day. Please bring your own lunch.
