WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOP

Want to paint looser watercolours? It’s not what you do, it’s what you focus on. Change your approach to watercolour painting and learn how to achieve instant magic. In this workshop you will learn to shift your thinking from striving for a perfect scene to a structure of layers, including what to focus on and when, how to achieve clarity in your work, and how to read and arrive at relevant values. When you focus on structure, the painting makes itself, allowing you to paint looser, more expressive paintings. The day will involve a little practical work followed by a full demonstration in watercolour. Afterwards you will have the time to put the methods into practise, tackling your own loose painting.

WHAT TO BRING

Reference material to work from including a greyscale copy of the same, paints, (bring your own colours), Saunders Waterford, Arches, Winsor Newton Professional or any similar cotton paper, spare paper for exercises, brushes, water pot, palette, kitchen roll, masking tape, water spray, 6B pencil, household sponge wipe (thin moppet type). Please bring your own packed lunch.
